PROPERTY RIGHTS PROBLEM:

Why should government planners be empowered to dispossess people in the name of urban renewal? Where Phoenix sees 'blight,' its victims see their homes, their hard work, their livelihoods and their dreams. As it stands now, Phoenix routinely gets away with this, picking winners and losers among landowners for the sole purpose of generating higher tax revenues

You may wonder, What about the community's right to improve itself and create new jobs? There is a reason the Constitution doesn't mention 'community rights — they don't exist. Only individuals have rights. Communities have desires.

PROPERTY RIGHTS SOLUTION:

The first item of action is to stop all expanded use of eminent domain by the City of Phoenix.

EMINENT DOMAIN RESOLUTION

BLIGHT SOLUTION:

To improve our city's neighborhoods, I will sponsor an ordinance to create modest awards for individual group cleanup efforts, nominated by zone council-members, and voted on by mayor and general council-members. These "Good Neighbor Initiatives" will be funded by savings created by the city audit.
